FAQs
-
We are the UK’s largest dedicated brain tumour charity, funding pioneering research to improve survival rates and reduce the harm caused by brain tumours. By coming together we dedicate even more funds to this research, all of which is subject to a stringent peer review process so you can be confident we are funding only the most promising projects. By becoming a Supporter Group, you have all the benefits of being your own charity (the name), but without the administrative hassles. 100% of your fundraising will be directed into your chosen area of research and we will not use a single penny of Supporter Group fundraising for administrative or governance costs. We deal with all the legal stuff, sort out your banking and keep you updated on the total amount you have raised and we also handle Gift Aid.
-
All the funds you raise as a Supporter Group will be spent on furthering our charitable objectives of funding research, providing information & support, raising awareness and influencing policy. We do not use the funds raised by our Supporter Groups to cover general office costs or fundraising costs.
Once you have raised over £10,000 as a Supporter Group, you will be able to nominate the money to be designated to one or more specific areas of our work, such as research into paediatric high grade tumours. Your funds will then be spent on research in this area that have been agreed through our stringent peer review process.

We will talk to you about your fundraising goals and ambitions and help you set an income target on a year by year basis. As a general rule our groups raise between £10,000 and £50,000 each year, with the highest income in the first two to three years.
We know that our Supporter Groups are set up for very personal reasons often in difficult circumstances. Most groups set targets because they find them useful to focus their efforts and also tell people when fundraising what their ambitions are. We will give you as much support and encouragement as you want to help you reach your target, but if you do fall short, please don’t worry, as every penny you generously raise, will help make a difference in the future.
-
Of course. We recognise that everyone’s situation changes and that you may not always have the time to dedicate to fundraising and organising events. We will also help you to set up easy ways to raise funds so that even if you want to take a break your fund is still growing.
-
You’ll have access to your own Supporter Group Page on our website , which includes a running total of funds you have raised – Supporter Group.
-
You will receive an annual research update & be able to request updates on the specific area of research you have chosen to fund. You will also be kept up to date with any breakthroughs and news as they happen through our social media and e-news.
