Applications came in thick and fast ahead of the deadline on Monday 28 September for two projects we are funding: Quest for Cures, which will allow brain tumour researchers from different institutions around the world to share their expertise, and New Ideas, which encourages innovative thinking to bring about treatment breakthroughs.
All of the bids will go through our rigorous assessment process, which is approved by the Association of Medical Research Charities, before we announce the names of the successful applicants in February next year.
Sarah Lindsell, chief executive of The Brain Tumour Charity, said: “Research brings hope to the thousands of people who are living with a brain tumour. It is the only way we will spare families in the future the devastation that so many of our supporters have experienced.
“We are determined to accelerate the search for a cure by funding new and promising research projects. This response from the research community is a major boost towards our twin goals of doubling survival and halving the harm caused by brain tumours.”
