As part of our
Defeating Brain Tumours strategy to double survival and halve the harm that a brain tumour has, we make it our priority to ensure every person with a brain tumour has equal access to high quality treatment, care and information regardless of postcode, age or tumour type.
As a follow on from our Losing Myself report which gives an honest account of what life is like for people affected by a brain tumour, we have published Finding Myself in Your Hands: The Reality of Brain Tumour Treatment and Care. The new report focuses on patients’ experiences with the NHS, healthcare professionals and their treatment, alongside recommendations to politicians and policy makers on what can be done to improve diagnosis, support and data collection.
Finding Myself in Your Hands draws on the same survey of over 1,000 people affected by a brain tumour as in the sister report, Losing Myself. It provides accounts of people’s diagnostic journey, their interactions with healthcare professionals and the treatment that they received.
Although many people were very positive about the care that they received from the NHS, there are clear areas for improvement.
The report contains content that some readers may find distressing.
