BBC Lifeline Appeal
The Brain Tumour Charity is delighted that Nicki Chapman will be presenting the BBC Lifeline Appeal on behalf of The Charity, to showcase all of the support we offer and to raise funds to help us move further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour.
The 10-minute film will broadcast on BBC One on Sunday 17 September at 14:05 and again on BBC Two at 08:50 on Tuesday 19 September. Don’t worry if you miss it! You will also be able to watch the film on BBC iPlayer.
The BBC Lifeline Appeal features three amazing people from the community – Ravi, Alan and Mel – who share their personal stories about the impact of a brain tumour diagnosis and and the support The Brain Tumour Charity has provided to them. You will also hear from Dr Ola Rominiyi about his research into high-grade brain tumours, funded by our generous supporters.

Meet the stars of our BBC Lifeline Appeal
Ravi
After developing a lopsided smile and a tremor in his left hand, Ravi was diagnosed with a low grade tumour in his brain stem. During a 10-hour operation, surgeons removed some of the tumour. But Ravi still lives with its impact.
Mel
Mel, 23, from the Wirral was diagnosed with a brain tumour in December 2022. Her diagnosis came ‘out of the blue’. “A brain tumour diagnosis is scary and isolating, but talking to the other young people makes you realise you’re not alone!”
Alan
Alan’s wife Anneka was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in 2019, when their daughter Sienna was just a baby. Anneka died six months later, aged just 33. Alan channeled his grief into supporting others raising more than £76,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Dr Rominiyi is a Lecturer and a Specialty Registrar in Neurosurgery at the University of Sheffield. During his surgical training, Dr Rominiyi regularly saw the devastation brain tumours cause patients and families.
