Amanda’s story
Amanda was diagnosed with a Grade IV glioblastoma brain tumour in September 2014 at the age of 48. Amanda lived on the Wirral, Merseyside, she has an amazing husband and three great kids aged 21, 19 and 15.
Amanda always lived a full and very active life however on 22nd August she woke up and when she tried to get out of bed she realized she was unable to walk. She was taken to hospital and underwent a number of scans and tests.
The doctors initially thought it was a stroke but on further investigation it was diagnosed as a glioblastoma. The tumour was in a dangerous position and the doctors refused to operate so it was blasted by six weeks of intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

From Christmas Amanda was on a monthly cycle of chemotherapy. In addition she took numerous supplements and followed a strict diet. Throughout all of this, Amanda was extremely brave and remained positive and focused.
Due to the position of the tumour Amanda lost a lot of movement on her left side, which limited her mobility and her ability to look after herself was been greatly reduced. Amanda passed away in February 2016.
