I have set up The Amy Wareham Fund which specifically funds research into high grade brain tumours. The Brain Tumour Charity has become unexpectedly close to my heart following a seizure on the 30th May 2023, resulting in me undergoing emergency neurosurgery on the 12th June 2023 and then receiving a Glioblastoma Grade 4 (GBM) diagnosis on the 7th July 2023.
After the shock of the diagnosis, with the median term prognosis of 12 to 18 months, as well as the discovery of the dire lack of funding for brain cancer research, I am determined to raise public awareness of brain cancer and in particular Glioblastomas.
I was referred to the charity by my neurosurgeon who delivered the diagnosis and prognosis to me. I have found the Charity to be a very valuable source of information and I appreciate the research and patient advocacy services provided.
