Ian’s Story

Ian David Roberts died on 14th November 2010, age 41, four years after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour.

Before he became ill, Ian was a brilliant scientist and enjoyed a fulfilling career both in the UK and USA.

After surgery and treatment, he lived bravely with his tumour and enjoyed the remainder of his life to the full; family holidays, renovating a cottage, walking his spaniel, Bertie, and being a brilliant dad to this two young daughters.

Ian always maintained a positive attitude, and he kept his spirits up with his abiding motto of ‘it is what it is, you can’t change it, so let’s get on with it’. His mental strength and humour were a true inspiration to those who knew him. He died peacefully at home with those he loved around him and is forever missed.

We have set up this page to raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity to go some small way towards helping to find new treatments, improve understanding, increase survival and bring a cure ever closer.

“We have set up this fund in Ian’s memory to support the brilliant work of The Brain Tumour Charity. Being diagnosed with a brain tumour is both frightening and uncertain, and we hope to support the Trust in its efforts to raise awareness and pioneer research into a cure”.
