Sandy’s story
In January of this year (2015), without warning, we lost our wonderful Sandy who was just 43 years old. From diagnosis of the tumour, to operation and eventual loss, the whole period was little more than a week.
We were shocked beyond belief and, as her father, I lost not only a daughter but a true and wonderful friend. Sandy was everything good in a human being; we all loved her and she loved everybody.
She was one of the most non-judgemental, intelligent and compassionate people you could wish to meet.
We were immensely proud of her; she was extremely talented and by trade, a joiner. The brilliant pieces she made from wood off-cuts (owls in particular) were a joy to behold and we took great pride in selling them in our Tea Room.

Sandy and I shared a true passion for literature and, if we didn’t meet up for a while we exchanged lengthy emails about the books we were currently reading. She loved the world of magic, fairies, spirits, folklore and myths and together we had a love of Sussex history and birds.
We remain numbed by her loss but we are grateful to the Brain Tumour Charity for the opportunity to perpetuate her memory by setting up this fund. We will use our best endeavours to raise money in her name to assist The Charity with its research programmes. It is fitting, because Sandy used so much of her life assisting and caring for others.
