Actress Amy Nuttall who is most recently known for her appearance in Mr Bates vs The Post Office and well-known for previous roles across popular national television series, Emmerdale and internationally renowned hit television series, Downton Abbey is set to release ‘Thank You Mother’ on 7 March 2024.
After tragically losing her beloved mum to a glioblastoma brain tumour last October, Amy has teamed up with The Brain Tumour Charity to raise vital awareness for The Charity.
‘Thank You Mother’ was written by an Irish songwriter called John Hurley. Amy was first introduced to the track in her early twenties, when she was asked to perform it for Gloria Hunniford. She will be performing it at the Smiley Charity Film Awards in London on 20 March.
Thank You Mother: Amy’s tribute to her mum
Thank You Mother is a tribute to Amy’s mother after Amy became her full-time carer alongside her sister and dad. The track has huge significance to Amy and her family as they played it to her mum in her final days.
As we approach Mother’s Day 2024, the words are a fitting tribute and a recognition of all mothers do for us, our families and our communities, whether present or in memory.
“Hearing the song after all these years planted the seed that I had to record it and it seemed like a good idea to focus my energy on raising awareness of the disease.
“I feel very fortunate to be able to use my platform to do this and all proceeds will go to the wonderful charity, The Brain Tumour Charity. I hope others will find comfort from the beautiful words in this song.”
Star of stage and screen
Amy’s love of acting started in her early years. She performed lead roles with the National Youth Music Theatre in her early teens and at just 16 she was credited as the youngest ever understudy for the lead role in The Phantom of the Opera.
A hugely accomplished singer, she has sung at The Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall in London and at Old Trafford. She released a debut album as a classical vocalist, Best Days, in 2005 and it was nominated for a Classic Brit Award in 2006.
Her screen career has gone from strength to strength with acclaimed roles in Emmerdale, Downton Abbey, and the recent highly praised Mr. Bates vs the Post Office.
She continues to tread the theatrical boards as well and past roles have seen her perform both in the West End and nationally in the likes of My Fair Lady, Cabaret, Guys and Dolls, All My Sons, Noises Off and many others, as well as starring in BBC radio 4 dramas.
