The grants target specifically, ‘early career scientists and investigators pursuing high-risk, high-impact projects’ for research into adult and child brain tumours.
They will be split into three categories; two-year, $100,000 Basic Research Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers starting out in careers investigating brain tumours, and one-year, $500,000 Discovery Grants supporting innovative, cutting-edge research.
The third grants are 10-12 week, $3,000 Medical Student Summer Fellowships, designed to inspire medical students to pursue careers in neuro-oncology research.
“The ABTA identifies and funds investigators who are uniquely positioned to provide new insight into the brain tumour research arena,” said ABTA’s chief science officer, Nicole Willmarth.
“This year’s grant recipients join a prestigious group of scientists previously funded by the ABTA who collaborate on research and share their knowledge and experiences to further advance our understanding of brain tumours.”
